Everything you need to know about our Remote Patient Monitoring program. Get answers to common questions about how RPM works, who may benefit, and how to get started.
Remote Patient Monitoring — or RPM — is a structured health program that allows eligible patients to take certain health readings at home using simple monitoring equipment. Those readings are transmitted automatically to our clinical team, helping create better visibility into the patient’s health between office visits or home health encounters. At Tricare, our RPM program is currently centered around blood pressure monitoring. Eligible patients receive an easy-to-use blood pressure cuff at home, take readings as instructed, and those readings are reviewed and followed up on by our team according to the program workflow. No wi-fi is required — the device transmits automatically using cellular technology.
No. The blood pressure monitoring device used in our program is specifically chosen for ease of use. It is designed for patients who may not be comfortable with technology. The cuff is simple to apply, the reading process is straightforward, and the transmission happens automatically — there is nothing extra the patient needs to do to send their data. No smartphone, no app, and no wi-fi connection is required. When we enroll a patient in the program, we deliver the device to their home and walk them through exactly how to use it. We make sure the patient and their family feel completely comfortable before we leave.
